The second time I've seen this band gig this year, and well worth a the punt for my birthday. I've found over the years that my local bars tend to hire the same bands every time and the ones covering rock churn out the same old 'classics' over and again: Deep Purple Smoke on the Water; Led Zepplin Stairway to Heaven; and Pink Floyd Brick in the Wall. It can become somewhat stale. What I like about these guys (Killing Floor) is that they play other reprises at their concerts: The Kinks; Franz Ferdinand, to name a couple. As bassist, Jack Bright, says, 'We're trying not to play "cliché" blues and rock.'
The fact that they steer away from being an anthemic rock group in favour of developing their own style and performing 'voice' gives them a certain higher kudos as a cover band than the norm.
Chuck in a song by the Kings of Leon (Youth and Young Manhood) and boys, I'll be your groupie!
OK, run.
Run now.
