CampWriMo #day2

Today started slower. I don’t know if that’s because I came back from the school run in a grumpy mood or if it was because I moved onto a different character of whom I’m not so confident in writing — my anorexic. I’m conscientious of making her too stereotypical, but her age slots in just right with one of my other characters, so she’s just going to have to remain an anorexic school girl. But as I said, it was slower. I had to re-read my research notes before I could get anything written, and even then it was bitty. This, however, turned out to be a good thing, because her POV is in diary format, so the slices of life worked out just right. Once I’d gone as far as I could with introducing her, and getting a feel for her, I stopped and went back and finished off chapter 2 (the first chapter was already written as a short story and was the basis of developing the idea).

In the end, I produced double my daily word count! It just sneaked up on me. I assume this means I haven’t hit the hard parts yet, which will likely turn up after the first ¼ and during the middle scenes. That’s when I will look a little like this.

Now I’m off to clean out some cupboards — can’t believe I’m actually going to do some spring cleaning as well as nano!! Worrying, but good.
